Bird Control and Proofing
Birds such as pigeons and seagulls are a common sight in and around urban areas, stealing scraps of food off of the floor when they can and lining up in vast numbers on any high, flat surface. They have become so common that they have begun to expand their nesting sites to domestic and commercial properties, both internally and externally. This can quickly lead to a build up of nesting materials and droppings (guano) which can block guttering and damage your property (due to the ammonia present in the droppings).
A build up of birds in both domestic and commercial properties could also pose a significant health risk, as guano can spread diseases such as Psittacosis, Salmonella and Ornithosis, as well as creating the perfect breeding conditions for insects and parasites.
When birds are nesting in large numbers, they can become aggressive, possibly attacking people and pets. You must remember that all nesting birds are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, so do not disturb them without seeking professional advice, you could be breaking the law!
