Information on Mice
The house mouse is one of the most common domestic and commercial pests in the UK, due to their size they can access areas that you may feel is impossible, a general rule of thumb is if you can get a biro into the gap, then a mouse can pass through.
House mice have a ‘cute’ look to them, often being confused for a baby rodent, however an adult house mouse will often have an overall length of between 7 – 10cm and typically weigh between 40 – 45g. Their fur is a uniform grey or brown colour.
In rural areas, another species of mouse may be found inside your property, this is known as the field mouse. These are commonly larger than their house mouse counterpart, with an overall length of around 2 inches and a significantly longer tail than a house mouse. A field mouse’s fur is typically a lighter brown/yellowy colour.
Like all rodent species, mice are nocturnal, meaning that they are most active during the evening hours. Mice will target many food sources, although they prefer cereal based products. It is advised to store any packets of food up high and where possible, inside sealed plastic containers.
Mice are generally very clean animals, however as they leave around 80 droppings a day, diseases could potentially be passed to people and pets. It is therefore imperative that if you find droppings (small black rice shapes), that you clean these away and immediately disinfect the area. Just like most over pest species, it is important to identify the infestation early, this makes it much easier to contain and effectively eradicate the infestation.
Here at Urban Jungle, we deliver quick and effective management of these rodents, at a very competative price. Our technicians will attend your property to identify the extent of your infestation, answer any questions you may have and then explain how the management techniques are going to work. Most of our treatments will consist of three visits (all included in the price), after which our technicians will offer a three month guarantee (provided that you meet the criteria).
